I firmly believe that we all possess a gift of creativity. For me, this journey of creativity began under the loving guidance of my grandmother, Grandma McAvoy. She stands as the foremost influence in my creative life, nurturing within me an unwavering love and an insatiable desire to bring forth creations from the depths of my imagination.
More than two decades ago, I embarked on a path that led me to develop my own distinctive style of collage. It was the inspiration of Eric Carle’s “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and the discovery of mixed media collage that captivated my artistic soul, leading me on a transformative journey.
Drawing upon the wisdom and inspiration accumulated over these years, I have crafted art that is truly unique and instantly recognizable. Each brightly-colored whimsical image tells its own story and is often a reflection of my own personal struggles and triumphs on my journey. I paint on paper, cut or rip the paper into pieces, then reassemble the pieces into images, often adorning each piece with natural elements like feathers, flowers, grasses, and porcupine quills. Each creation is not only a piece of art but a manifestation of my belief that art carries the transformative power to heal and inspire.
Every creation comes with a blessing. It is my heartfelt wish that my art finds its rightful place, speaking a message of hope and encouragement to those who encounter it, much as it has spoken to me. May the touch of my grandmother's life also touch you. May you discover freedom and serenity within the depths of your soul, may love resonate within your heart, and may you be inspired to unlock the wellspring of creativity that resides within you.
Raised on a small farm in Colorado with my family, I have always loved to create with my hands. Throughout the years, I have enjoyed calligraphy, drawing, painting and photography. But when I discovered mixed media collage, I was hooked. It wasn’t until I received a few awards at the local art shows that I realized I had found my voice. I have since participated in numerous art shows, received several awards, donated to local non-profits and am represented by several galleries across the country.
I not only sell my art through this website, I also create personal commissions and often teach others my process. I received a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design with honors from Montana State University, Bozeman, and currently resides in Bozeman, Montana.
